I am adding support for the FRW Persistant Companion system to the FRWCC, and would like those that have available companions to email them to me for inclusion in the module; I'm putting in Desire (Level 1 Half-Drow Rogue) to introduce the system and want there to be others for her to lead the PC to (sort of a mini-quest in the character creator). Anyone interested in doing this?

How would I make a companion?

If you download it from the vault (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view....Detail&id=109), there are instructions in the documentation.

I am sorry if I haven't kept up to date with everything happening here. I have not had as much time to mod as I intended, and what time I have had, has been put into NHiN2 and to some extent other GPS stuff.
If I understand it correctly you wish to incorporate the persistent companion system into FRWCC so all the persistent companions gets compiled in one hak/mod. That is more or less what Niah and I envisaged form start. Unfortunately I have not been able be as active in this as I origianlly intended. I think we should have 1 hak-file that includes all possible persistant companions for FRW. The conversation file for my romantic persistant companion Tanithiel, is included in Niah's hak. I fully endorse you taking lead in this LadyDesire. My point is that if your work will be the main place for FRW persistant companions, then maybe I ought to move Tanithiel from Niah's hak to FRWCC. |

I will probably require the persistant companion hak for the next release of the FRWCC; I haven't decided yet. I can add the conversations to the hak as well as the companion blueprints; it would make sense to do it this way so that everything works properly.

If it is at all possible to do this in the fashion mentioned and it works, then:
So let it be said, So let it be written, So let it be done. And so it is. best regards and much thanks to all involved with this, dunniteowl

I know I'm fishing here, and this is an old topic on a pretty dormant board, but I thought if anyone is still using this system, they might be lurking around.
Anyhow, I had installed the persistent companion system and had it working fine in a module I built after installing MotB, but before SoZ. Now, after SoZ, it does not work completely. For example, the maximum companion number sticks on 1 (even though I have the trigger variable set to 5) and the 'release companion from party' doesn't work. These may be easy fixes, but I haven't figured out how to do it. If anyone has any info, or knows for sure that SoZ/patch has broken this system, I'd be grateful for the info. Thanks!

I don't know for sure what SoZ has done to this, however, the difference in companions and cohorts and picking your own party setups seems that there should be some seminal differences in the scripting from MotB to SoZ when it comes to this.
I think the Persistent Companions scripting was originally done by vendalus and/or Xandurpien. Possibly in conjunction. You might wish to leave a message on the Vault for the Persistent Companions offering and see what transpires. Additionally, there is more information on this in the Tanithiel thread that Xandurpien started, I think it was in this same section. There also might be more information available about it's nuts and bolts construction in the FRW section for Modules. Sorry, off the top of my head, that's the best I can do. See this thread also: Persistent Companions dunniteowl
