Hey everybody. Just wanted to tell you that we are about to complete chapter 3 and need beta testers in near future.
As usual the beta version should be technically ok but we expect many grammar mistakes and typos. Help is more than welcome! Greetings Wayne P.S.: Anybody of you interested in voice acting? We need a good male voice.

What sort of male voice are you looking for? Any accenting? I am something of a baritone tenor voice and can do a wide variety of vocal pitches and accents in english. With the right scripts, I can also repeat what I do in any readable form of German, Italian, French, Spanish, probably Dutch, Japanese or I suppose even Swahili if necessary. In the case of anything other than French, German, Spanish and Italian, I would require a phonetic script -- and arbviously I kin read English real gooder than all thuh uthers.
![]() Let me know what you'd like and what your sound specs are. I'll make some samples for you. (And I think I am going to have to playtest this one this time... I love the Pool of Radiance Original too much to leave this one alone. I don't have MotB yet, though I have all the latest updates. Is that going to be an issue?) best regards, dunniteowl

we have the voice of Iain Cowden, a british actor in our three introduction movies. You can get them at our download site at NWVault.
I'm sad to say, but we've lost contact to Iain and both email adresses I have from him are not working anymore. While working at the ending we've finally found a workaround for our movie handling problem and we've included a final narration. We need this narration as an audio file - best with the same or nearly the same voice - as the intro sequences. Bariton voice is fairly ok. I've already written the narration but Iain always gave his own interpretation to make it real good. Please take a look at the intro movies. Can you do such a narration for the final sequence?

Ah, besides. PORR just uses the main NWN2 engine without the MotB additions. You will need the Bronze Dragon though, so I recommend updating to NWN2 v 1.10.
This should do the job. I would like to include (your?) narration of the final sequence into the beta version. This means the beta is ready as soon as you are

Okay, as soon as I can, I will DL the movies and check them out. As to sound specs, are you looking for mono @ 44KHz .wavs as a base?
To give you an idea, I can really imitate quite well Sean Connery, Daniel Radcliffe and Ian Gryffd *(I think that's how you spell his name, the bloke that's "Bloody Welsh!" from The Replacements, or the room-mate from Notting Hill) and I can do a fair impersonation of both John Cleese and Eric Idle from Monty Python in their heyday. So, let me give a listen to this Iain bloke and we'll see how well I can bring it off. I have a few issues to deal with in RL that preclude me doing this immediately, however, I should be able to provide you something by about this time Next Week, I should think. Is that a reasonable time frame for my test run? And of course, if there is no way I can come close, there still might be a way to pull off the narration change, by introducing some form of 'wrinkle' that makes the change of voice reasonable -- like a perspective change that means the narration now comes from another sort of chronicler of the story. Let me check it out. I have the latest update to the NWN2 game and do not have MotB, so I should be good to go on that score. Again, if there are any different sound specs (technically speaking) that I must be aware of when recording let me know those as well. best regards, dunniteowl [ps: Oh yeah, the intro movies are all on the Vault, right?]

Well, this really sounds perfect to me. I will need the rest of the week to include the journal entries and let them be checked by the other team members (if they find time to). Since the endgame narration is an important part of the game I would love to have it included into the beta.
I'll try my best to get those lines right but it would be very helpful to have them corrected and maybe adjusted by you. This is the way we always did with Iain. It shouldn't be too much work. I will make screenshots for you so you won#t need to play the whole thing through to see what is needed. I'm sure there are many small language issues in the beta version and it would be really helpful to have somebody take a deeper look into them. Greetings Wayne P.S.: Maybe we should continue this by email. Mine is markus@schlegels.de

As soon as I get home, you'll have an email from me. Meanwhile, I'll make sure that I have all the movies to study Iain's vocals and see what I can manage. As to any proof-reading and script (dialog type) changes, I would be happy to have a turn at it.
So, as soon as I get home, then. best regards, dunniteowl

I'm still waiting on getting help from Atari on my re-install problems, but I want to make a "toolset training module" for myself after trying out the village of Fern in the Atiaxis NWN1 tutorial update to NWN2 (If anyone has a better recommendation, I'm all ears). It will primarily be a teaching tool for myself which I would like to beta test with people here but may eventually end up on the vault because of the dearth of modules of its type.
“The Corruption of Innocence” will be a very linear 3-5 hour module for a first level character of neutral or evil alignment. No, no … not that bad. The dialogue will just be geared for either “for the money” or “for myself.” I see it more as me getting practice on dialogue, cutscenes, recognizing the class/gender/alignment/etc of the character and coming up with alternate dialogue and journal entries to correspond. Plot: The PC has taken up with a caravan as a guard in lieu of payment from point A to B (TBD). After a vicious attack played out in an opening movie, the PC is left stranded with only two other survivors, a deranged dwarf (cliché, but with a twist), and the equivalent of a 0 level warrior who is hoping to become a paladin. Roughly 75% of the module will be dialogue of the dwarf and PC dealing with the paladin wannabe as they trek on foot to the nearest civilized outpost (with both evil and neutral options). Persuasion, bluff, and intimidation rolls will be used to determine influence with the poor sap (I mean, paladin-to-be) and will result in him either fighting the PC at the end or deciding to take the less noble option of joining a thief’s guild in some city. This self-training module will be in the FRW “flavor,” but will not really follow the FRW guidelines. Since I plan to use it as a learning exercise (and I’m currently playing the lovely NWN1 Saleron’s Gambit), I intend to experiment with experience accumulation, player death, and resting rules. I’m also taking a look at the hak on the board which concerns mixed currency. I love the idea of PnP on the computer (for the people who played the same character for 5-7 years to reach 15th level and had a notebook detailing everything about that character … and I mean EVERYTHING), but I know that this cannot be recreated on this medium. But, dang-nabit, I’d like to try. Later modules may have me give up on that and follow a more traditional format. But then … I’m heading for comedy. The Slums of Silverymoon. “Taern … we have a slum district? Why wasn’t I informed? How … pedestrian.” After that, I'll be working on stuff for traditional champions of justice ... or not. |

EDIT: And here I am, posting my 'welcome' in the wrong place, and cluttering up the 'Projects' thread with something other than a project announcement...
![]() Very late 'welcome' to you, Gwydion669: Welcome to the FRW boards! ![]() Hopefully you get your problems fixed soon (or already have been able to deal with them); your "training mod" sounds very neat. And the FRW guidelines aren't that strict. From a player's perspective, I guess what's most important is that the treasure levels etc. are relatively unified, and that there aren't inconsistencies in how Faerûn is developing. But it's such a huge place with such a long history, that inconsistencies don't crop up all that easily. Cheers! Lariam Last edited by Lariam; 05-13-2008 at 03:38 AM. |
